Molar Overjet The Picture on the left is a side view of the first upper and lower cheek teeth, also called the second premolars. The front edges of each tooth line up with each other, insuring even wear on both teeth. The nose is toward the left The picture on the right shows an upper first cheek tooth "overjet". The 1/3 of the upper tooth will not be worn off and a "hook" will form. See the picture below these two for example of a hook.
If uncorrected the hook gets longer and thicker, slowly pushing and holding the jaw rearward. In this picture the jaw would be pushed to the right. back
